TV_Junkie_FINALMemo to ABC

Thank you, thank you, thank you, for bringing “FlashForward” back to us. Now let’s hope it makes sense, so that we can love it like a long “Lost” cousin.

YAY!!!

Well, she’s done it again, and this time it’s a double-header! Betty White will be starring in a new sitcom on TVLand called “Hot in Cleveland,” along with Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick, as three best friends "of a certain age" from LA,

Hot_In_Clevelandwhose lives are forever changed when their plane unexpectedly lands in Cleveland and they rediscover themselves in this new "promised land." Loving their new home, they live under one roof, battling the property's sassy caretaker (White). I guess better hot in Ohio, than washed up in LA. Thanks to an incredible Facebook campaign, Betty also does “SNL” on May 8th & I’m sayin’ it now…this will be the most-watched show in “SNL” history, save for the first show after 9/11. That post-9/11 show, BTW, was “SNL” at its finest, making us laugh when we needed it so much, but didn’t know if we would ever laugh again.

Snooki Update

JerseylisciousAnd off they go to Miami Beach! But, big oops, some of the local hotels and hot spots are rejecting the location scouts. More on this next week. But now comes another Jersey show called “Jerseylicious,” from the Style Network. In a dig at my Snooki, the star of this new show, Olivia Blois Sharpe is quoted as saying “Real Jersey girls are a lot more fashion-forward.” Be frightened. Be REALLY frightened!

“Lost” Report

SawyerThis week was all Sawyer, all the time and OMG!!! He’s a cop and Miles is his partner. Although, I did enjoy his reason for becoming a cop (“it was either be a crook or a cop and I chose cop”), so I guess it works for me. In “Recon,” we meet a kinder, gentler (sort of) James and I like him; I really, really like him. Even down to watching “Little House on the Prairie,” which, I must confess, was one of the TVJ’s favorite weepy shows, right up there with “The Waltons.” No cracks, please, we all have our weepy shows. But Michael Landon sure knew how to make you cry every time he talked to “Half Pint.” So now the island Sawyer is playing both ends against the middle. Is James working with Charles Widmore? Or is he working for Not Locke? The Kate/Claire face–off was pretty scary, and when Sayid did nothing, I thought that Kate was a goner, but there was Not Locke. Then Claire’s 180° at the end? WTF? Next week is Richard Alpert’s story and I really wanna know why this guy never ages. And now, as I will every week through the end of “Lost” (shoot me now!), hand you over to my pal Bill Ervolino’s “Completely Lost” site. Enjoy! http://blogs.northjersey.com/blogs/completelylost

OK, Addicted!

The_InbetweenersNew one this week and it’s from the UK’s Channel 4, “The Inbetweeners,” about four dorky lads in sixth form at a public school, who could f%@k up a free lunch, and frequently do. They are Simon, Jay, Neil and newcomer Will, a transfer from private school, due to his parent’s divorce, who is buttoned up and brief-cased and can over-think a book of matches. These lads are so hilariously inept at everything from school to sex to driving to love, that you can’t NOT laugh at them, and love them, all at the same time. Check this one out and let me know what you think.

Southland”

SouthlandKudos to TNT for picking up this incredibly gritty and honest show about cops! Ben McKenzie (Ryan  on “The O.C.”) plays rookie Ben Sherman, a rich kid who just wants to be a good cop and experiences the life on the street with the LAPD. I love the way the profanity is beeped out, since we all know that cops never curse!

Soapbox Moment of the Day:

KishABC soap “One Life to Live” is pulling the plug on its Gay couple, Kyle and Fish (Kish), played by Brett Claywell and Scott Evans. Rumor has it that the couple is being written out of the show after sluggish ratings and a poor response from mainstream fans. According to Executive Producer Frank Valentini, "We are concluding the story that we set out to tell with Kyle and Fish. We are very proud to have broken new ground with a same-sex couple on daytime.” Nice going. You give us a Gay couple and then yank them off the air. Break the ground, then bury the story.

The How Butch Can You Get Department”

Bowling_Green_State_UniversityThis Saturday, March 20, the Bowling Green State University women’s Falcon_Girlsbasketball team will take on Michigan State in the first round of the NCAA Championship in Louisville, KY, their 4th time in the Championship in 6 years and their 6th consecutive season as the MAC Champions. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2 at noon. All the “TVJ” wants to know is, where were these girls when I was in college? GO FALCONS!!!

See you next week…
