The Last “Lost” Report The recap show, “Final Transmissions,” was really a help in refreshing our memory about some things in past episodes that might have gone by the wayside (or is that side-way?). Then came The Finale, which turned out to be one great big old love story. How simple was it? The Island was real, and as they all died, they went to the sideway world.
When they arrived there, they had forgotten about the Island and their fellow passengers. As each
awakened and began to remember, they found their way back to each other; Hurley and Libby, Jin and Sun, Bernard and Rose, Shannon and Sayid, Desmond and Penny, Charlie and Claire,
James and Juliet (the best of the reunions!), and, finally, Jack and Kate. And don’t forget Christian, Miles, Boone and of course, Vincent.
Since true love will always win out in “the end,” each was reunited with
the one they were destined to be with. All of Jack’s talk about “destiny,” along with several others who also felt that sense of “destiny,” became clear. They were all supposed to be together on the Island, just as Christian said to Jack, “the most important time of your life was the time you spent with these people. You needed all of them and they needed you.” They survived the crash, survived the island and survived with,
because of and in spite of, each other, to form a unique “family,” once again united in death. They were just waiting for Jack to arrive when his work on the island was done, so that they could “remember and let go.”
Now, am I totally satisfied with the finale? Well, generally yes, but there are still
some unanswered questions. In the words of Paul Newman, “who are those guys?” Who were the Others? Who were Jacob and his brother? Who (or what) was the Smoke Monster? Is Ben dead, or still
on the Island he has always called home, as its last protector? And how did Hurley get those numbers that were obviously attached to each of the “candidates” on the Island? And, most of all, what was this Island? We may never learn these answers, and frankly, I don’t really care. What I did, and do care about, are these people in whose lives we became both fascinated and involved. And, in years to come, when we speak of this show (and we will!), it will be like visiting with old friends, in whose lives we had a vested interest. And that is
thanks to an incredible cast, for whom this show will probably remain an unforgettable experience, if not a career highlight.
All I can say is kudos to producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse for giving us
characters that we actually cared about and loved for the past six years That’s one hell of an
accomplishment in a viewing world populated by simplistic nonsense and reality TV.
This is the end…Beautiful friend

And…
Jimmy Kimmel’s post “Lost” finale show was wonderful. Not only did we get to say good-bye to the characters we’ve welcomed into our homes and lives for the past six years, but we were treated to some hilarious “alternate endings,” of which the two funniest can be found on this link -
