Memo to:Ashton Kutcher…how much does the TVJ love this boy? Oh, yeah…Charlie Sheen? LOSER!!!

Favorite New Shows Drama is split between “The Event” and “Hawaii Five-O.” Love “Five-50!” Although The TVJ must confess to not being a die-hard fan of the original, but this redo, which easily could have gone south, has proven to be a winner and reason enough to move to Hawai’i. And how adorable is Scott Caan? “The Event,” which was just cancelled, was getting really interesting. two-half-men-twitter-ashton-Laura Innes in ANYTHING has the TVJ’s attention. But, alas, the TV-powers-that-be didn’t see it that way. Hopefully a wrap-up made-for-TV-movie will let us know if Earth survives the onslaught. As for comedies, although the TVJ adores “Mike & Molly the TVJ’s new fave sit-com is “Happy Endings” (more on this show next week), which might just be THE show to pick up where “Friends” left off. The writing is snappy, hilarious and so true-to-life, as are the characters, that the TVJ has to give this show the thumbs up!

Favorite Old Shows:

Castle_-_Nathan_Fillion_-_Stana_KaticGotta go with “Castle.” How charmingly adorable is Nathan Fillion? And how hot is Stana Katic? This show is so well written, witty, clever, romantic and, did the TVJ mention that that Stana Katic is really hot? Nothing makes the TVJ laugh big-bang-theory_castmore than “Big Bang Theory,” with this bunch of Trekkers, Losties and Whovians. The saddest part, is that the TVJ understands everything they say. GEEK!

Cancelled, or, WTF???

chicago-code-ABC cancelled several shows, among them “Brothers & Sisters” (which the TVJ will personally miss), “Detroit 1-8-7” BrothersAndSisters(WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!!! Michael Imperioli was wonderful in this), “Off the Map” (which the TVJ was JUST getting into…whiny doctors just like the rest of Shonda Rhimes characters, but with better scenery) and “V” (yet another sci-fi show with no wrap up!). NBC axed “Chase” (the divine Kelli Giddish is now on “The Good Wife” and they better keep her! The TVJ first noticed Giddish on “All My Children” eons ago), “Law & Order: LA” (come on, give the show a break!), “Outsourced” (which fell deeply into the TVJ’s Bollywood obsession) and “The Paul Reiser Show” (which was sooooo awful, it needed to be euthanized after two episodes). How FOX could kill “The Chicago Code” is beyond the TVJ, along with CBS whacking the funniest, most annoying man on the planet, William Shatner and “$#*! My Dad Says.” Anything Shatner does makes the TVJ laugh.

New Guilty Pleasure:

Mob_Wives

“Mob Wives” has all of the TVJ’s votes. These broads are so spot-on, not to mention hilariously frightening, that the TVJ is glued to the set for each episode. Trust the TVJ on this one; Snooki and company would last five minutes with this group before they ran screaming over the “Guinea Gangplank” back to the mainland.

The TVJ’s “TV Family of the Week

MikeMolly“Mike & Molly” The TVJ finds both Molly and Mike’s families hilarious! Is it Swoosie Kurtz as Joyce, Molly’s mother? Joyce’s sleazy boyfriend Vince (the amazing Louis Mustillo – where has this guy been?)? Is it Katy Mixon as her pot-head sister Victoria? Reno Wilson as Mike’s bestie and cop partner Carl or Carl’s picky, picky grandmother, played by Cleo King? Oh, no, TVJ fans,mike-and-molly_family the top award goes to Mike’s jaded, possessive, cynical and utterly annoying mother, Peggy, hilariously played by the brilliant Rondi Reed. Reed walks away with the show in every scene she’s in, making this a show that could have been one long series of fat jokes, into a funny, warm and touching look at dysfunction at its best.

Soapbox Moment of the Day:

SNL-Justin-Timberlake-Lady-Gaga-Kudos to “SNL” for ending the season on a high note with Justin Timberlake and Lady GaGa. Just when the TVJ thought that “SNL” had jumped more sharks than swim in the Caribbean, along comes this duo to close out the season. Not only were they great separately, but together were unbelievably hilarious. And, just when you thought “Dick in A Box” was the best of Justin, along came “It’s Not Gay if It’s A Three-Way” to break the bank on YouTube.
