Memo to: Oprah…let me get this right…you’re being honored at the Daytime Emmy Awards by everyone under the sun, from Celine to Ellen to the Academy itself and you’re not there? ‘Scuse me? Well, Miss Thing, the TVJ has not watched the last three episodes of your show. Apparently, Duane Reade ran out of insulin, so the marathon will have to wait until they re-up. Perhaps, in the fall. Or…not.
Daytime Emmy Report:
There’s only one thing to report…WORST SHOW EVER!!! Dancing Elvises (Elvisi?) honoring Daytime? What were they thinking? The only
good thing was the Academy FINALLY acknowledging Laura Wright for her brilliant portrayal of Carly on “General Hospital.” The TVJ never tires of this character (or the actress), no matter what crazy, hair-brained schemes she come up with, and believe me, there are some whacked out things
that this broad has done. Congrats on taking over a role and really making it your own. The TVJ also loved the honoring of Alex Trebek & Pat Sajak. I’ll take a YAY!
Jonathan Jackson with his Emmy
The “How can you do that to us?” Cliffhanger:
“The Event” You gotta be kidding!!! All this anticipation about Sophia bringing “her people” to earth, where they apparently lived before the human race, and what happens? They didn’t bring their people, they brought their PLANET!!! And now, it’s cancelled. Hello!!! Why do they always do this with the SciFi stuff? “V,” “The 4400,” “Alf”??? Ok, maybe not “Alf,” but, really!!!
This week’s “Mob Wives” Update:
After last week’s hair-pulling, face-slapping, knock-down drag out (and not in a good “drag” way),
the girls patched things up. Things seem to be doing better, Carla’s husband is coming home, Renee is getting closer to Junior (which might not be a good thing), but now comes trouble, and the TVJ doesn’t mean the raccoons in Drita’s backyard. Or even Renee’s desperate quest for physical rearrangement. (the plastic surgeon trying to talk her out of getting too much work looks scared to death!) No, Mob Wivians! Karen Gravano’s book is coming out and the rest of the girls are NOT happy. Should she be punished simply because her father is Sammy “The Bull”? One kid even says “I’d rather my father stay in jail for another 4 years, than be a rat!”
The TVJ’s “TV Family of the Week”
“The Kennedys” The TVJ just finished catching up on this mini-series and has no clue as to why the Kennedy family would want to prevent its airing. It’s not like there was any new dirty laundry to hang on the line; same old, same old.
The TVJ never, for one moment, thought that Lee Harvey Oswald killed JFK. He was framed in one of the largest conspiracies in the history of this country. How do you spell “FBI”???
Soap Moment of the Day – It’s all about “AMC” & “OLTL”:
Kudos to the soon-to-be-late “One Life to Live,” for bringing Roger Howarth, who created the role of Todd Manning, back to the show. The face-off (sic) between Howarth
and Trevor St. John (who has portrayed Todd since Howarth’s departure, and made the part his own) will be a must-see. The TVJ is picturing Todd, Tea, Todd, Blair and a host of confused children. If this show has to end, let it be with a bang, not a whimper! On another “OLTL” note, the TVJ just watched an old episode that aired on SoapNet back around Valentine’s Day, from 1995: the wedding of Todd and Blair. Well, one of their weddings, anyway. What fun to revisit the cast, from a young Nathan Fillion (“Castle”) as Joey Buchanan to a beautiful Thorston Kaye (Zach Slater, “AMC”) as Patrick Thornhart with Susan Haskell (his real-life love) as Marty Saybrooke to the eternally youthful pair of Robin Strasser and Erika
Slezak as Dorian & Viki to the feisty (on screen and off), late, great film star Phil Carey as Asa Buchanan. It truly saddens the TVJ that both “AMC” & “OLTL” will soon be gone, but between Erica Kane as dual characters on “AMC” and the “who’s gonna die and get the heart?” plot twists & turns on “OLTL,” at least they’re going out in a blaze of glory!![]()
Next week, the TVJ rates all the new shows and the returning series…
