Dear Cabaret Family & Friends,

We hope your summer’s been great, and as Labor Day fast approaches, that you, like us, are looking forward to an exciting fall season full of live entertainment. Cabaret Exchange is now in its fourth month, and we are working on many projects to fulfill our mission statement to “Raise the Bar on All Things Cabaret.” Here are some suggestions to improve your experience with Cabaret Exchange, as well as some new features we would like to bring to your attention.

We have had several inquiries regarding reaching the site, as well as navigation once you are there. As you know, servers offer varying levels of service. If you are having difficulties, we suggest you use Mozilla Firefox as your server when visiting Cabaret Exchange. You can easily download Firefox, by clicking here . If you find the font size to small, locate the re-size text button on the upper left of all our pages, and adjust for your comfort. Our message boards have been expanded, and we are now offering individual boards for weekly events and organizations, such as Singer’s Forum and MAC. These boards are new, and you must be a registered member to post on them. We would like to see them utilized to promote the specific activities of each group, including events open to the general public who are interested in live entertainment. If you’d like a message board to promote your ongoing event or organization, please let us know.

Cabaret Exchange recently activated our poll feature. When New York Times critic Stephen Holden was on vacation, it was pointed out by a fellow press person, that this left no coverage of cabaret at the Times. Raising this obvious point, led us to this question: “If the New York Times were to expand its coverage of cabaret, who would the community like to see reviewing?” The poll feature can be found on the left bar on our front page. You do not need to register in order to vote, and only one vote from each individual logging on from their computer will be accepted. Once you’ve cast your preference, you cannot vote again. We have not set a cut-off date for the voting, and up-to-the-minute percentages are viewable by clicking the results button. When the poll is finished, we will send the percentile results to the New York Times, along with the total number of votes cast, so please vote and tell other cabaret family, friends and supporters to vote The more votes cast, the louder our voice to the New York Times.

Due to schedule conflicts, our original date of Friday, August 24, for the Cabaret Exchange piano bar invasion of Rita Mae’s, has been moved to Tuesday, August 28. Please join us at 9pm at 531 Hudson Street, between West 10^th & Charles, as we gather to celebrate this new venue’s timely arrival on the scene. As the Exchange grows, so must our team. We welcome Patrick Shank to the team as our new Advertising Manager. Patrick will also be heading up several other exciting new projects which will be announced in the near future. If you like the job we’re doing and the service we provide, we hope you will consider supporting Cabaret Exchange when planning your advertising budgets. We also welcome donations, and again, thank our current Supporters. Feel free to contact Patrick with any questions you may have. He has a wealth of knowledge and loves to share.

Lastly, we have a project in the works to help increase our coverage and reviews of cabaret, comedy and jazz which will be announced shortly. Stay tuned. You ain’t seen nothing yet!
