The American Traditions Competition is celebrating 20 years of bringing the best singers from around the country to perform the best of America's music. After reviewing dozens of applications, 32 quarter finalists will be coming to Savannah to compete between January 15 and January 19, 2013.
On Friday night, a few of the world class Judges will perform and the week will culminate on Saturday night with a Gold medal being awarded to the best of the best. In total over $40,000 will be awarded to contestants.
The ATC Artistic Consultant, Vale Rideout, has released the names of the five all-star judges who have the unenviable job of selecting from the field those singers who will advance through the rounds on the way to the finals. This year's judges are baritone Opera star Rod Gilfry; movie, stage actress and singer Anita Gillette; composer Don Davis; jazz composer Bob Dorough and well known New York voice coach Michael Paul.
The quarter finals, semi finals and judges concerts will be held at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Ascension January 15 – 18. The finals will be held at the Lucas Theatre on Saturday, January 19.
Tickets are available at the SCAD box office at (912)525-5050. The box office can also be reached by going to the ATC web site at www.americantraditionscompetition.com.
"This will be an exciting year with new contestants, spectacular Judges and of course the Peoples' Choice Award. Come join us for the fun of the competition and joy of the music" said Beckett Spreng, President.
