Royce Campbell/What Is This Thing Called

Whenever I write a review for jazz guitarist Royce Campbell & Co. the review seems to take off on it's own and ultimately write itself. Royce and his prowess plus his choice of sidemen practically insure an animated & compelling CD project, bar none!! Royce and group always seem to give us their listeners, music that only be described as both heroic and of the most approachable kind.

 

Their music is also asserted in none other than with the most utmost clarity.  Definitely broad and dignified, with magnificence and certainly rich with decisive melodies and harmonies.  Last, might I suggest to my readers that when Royce and his group play, he gives our musical sensibilites a wonderful ethos of space in which to enjoy the jazz idiom.
