Well now... Here's a positive clash of two cultures. Russian jazz singer Oleg Frish with the Patrick Williams big band!! And, what a powerhouse performance. This guy understands the American Songbook as well as any native American. And he plies his wares as succinctly as he can deliver his song... Even down to getting the parlance of the song correct, and yes... even to getting the accent right!!
Bravo Oleg... and may you ''break a leg'' over and over and over again!! Frish is one of those types who takes his music seriously with his meticulous and yes almost imperturbable vocal nature, which together with his artistic talents could hardly fail to charm anyone interested in good vocal jazz. So, what can I say other than to relegate my readers to the new ''saloon singer on the block'' albeit the person who one would never expect to hear from vocally... Oleg Frish, a delightful and entertaining Russian singer-stylist extraordinaire... A man possesed of a light musical touch and a strong sense of both himself and our beloved American Songbook.
